Ocean Plaza wins an award for its contributions to a prestigious environmental protection campaign

In 2008, Ocean Plaza won an award jointly given by Radio Beijing Corporation News Channel, Beijing Afforestation Foundation and Duolun County Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region due to its enormous contributions to a forestation campaign in Duolun to prevent sandstorms in Beijing. Ocean Plaza has participated in this annual campaign for eight years in a row and contributed generously to ¡°recovering Beijing¡¯s blue sky.¡±

A desert in Duolun County of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the north of Beijing, is the primary sand source for sandstorms in Beijing. In the spring of 2000, Beijing was struck by 13 sandstorms. In the spring of 2001, the number rose to 15. To reduce the number of suffocating sandstorms, Beijing Afforestation Foundation has cooperated with Radio Beijing Corporation and Duolun County Government in 2001 to launch a forestation campaign in Duolun to prevent sandstorms in Beijing, which is also committed to improving Duolun¡¯s ecological environment.

Ocean Plaza has been a participant of this activity ever since its debut year. Following its corporate guidelines of ¡°repaying society with philanthropy,¡± staff of Ocean Plaza¡¯s management company informed its leasing clients on desertification around Beijing and its impact on local residents¡¯ life through organizing exhibitions, publicity campaigns and fund raising events among leasing clients, which has succeeded in arousing people¡¯s interest in environmental protection campaigns. Meanwhile, Ocean Plaza hopes that these public welfare activities could become a communication platform for its leasing clients and create a new trend of participating in environmental protection activities and other public welfare causes in Ocean Plaza.
